I wonder the same thing.I wonder how some people can get charged with animal cruelty,yet nobody gets charged with that when they kill a turkey.

Emotional attachment. More people would rather keep a dog in their home than a turkey. Besides, turkeys and pigs taste better.

Dogs and cats are animals people domesticated to become pets. Turkey and pigs can be pets but are not universally accepted as pets.

Have you ever been around a real full sized hog? Well they are nasty,as in mean natured(gross too). When I was a kid my uncle had one. It was the size of a car and when it got out of its pen it used to chase people, it got my uncle down and took a big bite out of his leg. It was gross. As for turkeys, well its not like they're killing these animals just for me. If they were then I wouldn't eat them. And I personally think dogs, and cats are companion animals. I'd eat my neighbors before I would eat a dog, there's more meat on her.

Not so in China; some eat cats. Nor Korea; some eat dogs.
I'm a South Korean by the way, and my family's never eaten dog.
However, you have to consider that in India, it's illegal to kill a cow.
And Muslims don't eat pork. Nor do Jewish people eat unclean animals.
Then there's the movie "Alive", where for survival people had to eat their dead friends.
Food is a matter of perspective. And, for me, I'm just glad I'm not being cut up.

Well, in Vietnam they have pot belly pigs as pets, and eat dogs and cats!

cats and dogs have evolved to taste nasty, turkeys and pigs havent reached that evolutionary ability, yet.
