I had a similar problem for about one week - the same week my baby "dropped". I found my ankles doubled in size - and got worse and worse the more time I spent on my feet. I was really freaked out at first but did some research and found that signs of pre - eclampsia include swelling of the fingers and face - not the feet.
To get them down make sure you spend plenty of time with your feet elevated - sitting down doing nothing. When you are sitting prop your feet up with some cushions to get the fluid running out - this worked the best for me.
Some people recommend using a foot spa, or massage - I found none of these were very effective.
The only thing that may spark concern is if one foot gets considerably bigger then the other. This could indicate some type of damage that has occurred to one of your veins/arteries and would require checking out.
So basically to answer your question - yes it is normal considering you are spending alot of time on your feet, and try the elevation to get them to go down.
However if the swelling is troubling you please please please get it checked out with your doctor ASAP!

Pregnancy causes you to retain water. Cutting back on salt (sodium) can help. Also, prop your feet up whenever you get the chance. I am not sure if soaking them would help, you could check with your doc and see. If they get really swollen or stay swollen for hours at a time tell your doctor. You might want to mention it to him anyway just to be safe. Most of the time nothing is wrong, just hope you don't get the swollen face that some women get during pregnancy!

I had the same problem from that time on. You might want to mention it to your doctor to make sure there is nothing wrong. I was so swollen everywhere I could barely fit my fat feet and ankles into my husbands shoes. I looked like such a dork whenever I went out because only my husbands old sports shoes fit. Try to keep them up and don't work yourself too hard.

well if your ankles are swollen then so are your wrists i would say lay on your back and put your feet up and hold your hands above your head! sounds crazy i know but you will see a difference if you do it all the time for about 30 mins daily and all it is is water going to your extrmities so you have to let the water flow back down

Put your feet up get a massage while they are up. You will have 50% more blood and fluids in your body and it will go to your hands feet and face. Pregnancy is stressful slow down if you can. Your body will do weird things supporting a baby and you must excercise by walking 1/2 hour a day to keep things moving through if you can and get plenty of rest.

Swelling in pregnancy can be normal but it can also be a sign of pre-eclampsia which is the silent disease of pregnancy. The medical name for the swelling is oedema and most women will experience it at some point. 22 weeks is quite early though so I would say to you that you should see your doctor or midwife just to get your blood pressure checked. I`m sure its nothing to worry yourself about but its always better to be safe that sorry.

the farther you get into your pregnancy, the more likely you are to get swollen ankles because as the baby grows and gets heavier in your belly, it puts more pressure on the nerves that circulates blood into your legs....that is why if you find that you are standing for long amounts of time your feet may blow up...not enough blood is circulating through your legs!
the best thing to do is get off of them, elevate them, and if you can have them massaged to stimulate the flow of blood to resume.
good luck!

Go see your doctor and also you must layoff on salt, and walking would be good..drink water..and just eat healthier too...fruits, veggies, salad, fish, chicken..but don't eat lots of chips..stuff that can make you hold in water..good luck...take extra care of yourself so you can have a healthy baby and this means you too
