oh btw... I do not want a camera filming anything...and my mom is not allowed around my kids...not exactly a good person...only my fiance would be IN THE ROOM with me...at the time of delivery...and I'd want him up with me...not down at the end of the bed with a camera...

I used the mirror with my first, I was 17. My mum was up at my head and couldn't see and they asked for the mirror, I said no but ended up so mum could see the birth. I looked only once the head but it was amazing to see my son nearly born. I woulod recommend it. I didn't have a chance with the others all for different reasons but why not, its amazing

I had my son when I was 16, and I didn't really have a say in it, they just put me in front of a mirror. I didn't do so well. Got so sick, I nearly puked. Far too much gore..it somehow made the pain seem worse. I wouldn't want to do that again, so I would say No, don't use the yucky mirror.

I had a "mirror" birth. I kind of liked it. I wanted to see how good I was doing or if I needed to push harder. I ended up pushing for only five minutes. I'd defiantly do it again but ask them to remove the mirror after I was done. They ended up sewing me up right where I could still see it!

I didn't do breathing or anything else. I just pushed as for as long and as hard as I could.

I had the mirror with both of my children, it is on a stand at the end of the bed, but I think I only looked at it once or twice you are pushing & then delivering the placents the last thing on my mind was to look at it, and my children were placed right onto my chest. But it is up to you.

If dad is up by your head, then the mirror will help him see what's going on. Personally, I don't like to use a mirror.

You can always ask to have one in the room, then see how you feel about it at the time.

Might be cool but I was always too bothered by the pain at that point to care what anything looked like, just wanted them out ASAP. my advise set up a camera so they can't see it and watch it all later when you may actually enjoy the experience more.

You shoudl go for it. In fact, you could even ask them if they could tape the whole event for you to watch in future. Mothers go through a lot of pain and discomfort in pregnancy and then in childbirth, that they hardly can concentrate on the miracle of giving birth. It would be a warm and satisfying experience later to view the tape with your husband/fiance and perhaps with your child too after a few years, particularly if it is a girl. If you dont want to have a camera used, then you will lose the precious recording of the birth for ever.

I don't know about that! I had a quick labour and all I really thought about was pushing and I probably wouldn't want to see myself down there at my worst, though I wouldn't mind feeling the head, which I did with my daughter. But personally I probably wouldn't.
