why do my pieces in yahoo chess not show up?

There must be glitch in the game. Has this repeatedly happened to you? Try exiting out of it, and coming back in. If it still happens, yahoo chess must have some serious bugs then. You should send a complaint to Yahoo!

The Yahoo games are a right b*stard to get up and running, especially from Messenger, they're unreliable at the best of times.

Check to make sure you have the Java Applet, this should help you, failing that, I'd recommend looking for an alternate site.
