Granps. Informal, takes into effect his baby talk, but still gives you the respect you need.
Another thing is to call you by your first name, but different. For example, if your name is Joseph, it could be Joso; if your name is Adam, shorten it to Adah; if your name is William, shorten it to Willa, or something of this manner. It makes it not quite your first name, which children shouldn't call adults by in my opinion, and makes it easy for a three-year-old to say, as well as being personal.

Try spending TIME with the grandson and let SITUATIONS form either a "nickname" or a given name that will feel just right for the both of you.
Take things slowly. Changes are not just occurring for YOU, you know. Think of this like getting a tattoo: you want to make it permanent and you want to make it RIGHT.
Good luck to you my friend, and thanks for posting.

How about just a short version of your actual name, a nick name? Then it wouldn't have anything to do with grandpa, and it would still be personal!

How bout Mr Gramps? That should satisfy you both. What do your biological g'children call you? Why do you find this to be so offensive? (Just curious)

perhaps Uncle (yourname) would do or just have the boy call you by your name. something more personal is required. I sense such hostility in your reference to the child I would have to wonder about you seriously if I were your lady.

umm...do you have like a nickname he could use....I call my grandmother's boyfriend, John, but that's b/c they weren't together until I was 17, my cousin calls him grandpa, but my sisters call him a nickname. Maybe you could come up with that.

I am shocked at your hostility. You do NOT deserve to be called by anything other than your name.....without the Mister!
