we've been discussing this at work. Now sylar is a watch maker/repairer...but does he have a hidden ability? can he 'fix' things that are broken? like his 1st victim. he didnt want to be different so he didnt want his powers...did Sylar 'fix' him? Give me your opinion.

Gabriel Grey seemed to have no noticeable powers but he was sure that he did.
He hit Brian in the head and managed to take his telekenitic power from him.
As you pointed out brian did not want his power so in that respect Gabriel took it out of him and made him better.
I'll go one further for you. I think Suresh's daughter was killed by her power. It developed too fast too soon and it killed her.
Perhaps Charlene was having similar difficulty. Her brain tumor may have been the result of her power developing.
Matt is having head aches.
Peter is havin halucinations and black outs.
Jessica is turning evil.
Eden was evil for a while.
Sprague is semi suicidal
Isaac is only held together by drugs.
Nathan is a habitual liar in denial of his ability.
Claire has been mind wiped repeatedly.
The only normal ones seem to be Hiro and the Haitian and they seem to be having doubts as of late.
And Sylar has developed a God complex no longer responding to his given name.
So maybe the reason Suresh is in such a hurry to find all these people is the fact he knows Mohinder has the gift of dreaming the past and it too may drive him insane.
Now as for the powers of Sylar. He obviously had the power to understand it all, meaning how the power works. That is what the people in charge want from him, the way to extract the power out of the heroes and or keep it from killing you or making you kill yourself as the case may be. Add to that telekenesis, what looked like lasers coming from his finger tips, self regeneration which is how he recovered so fast, super strength which is how he broke through shatterproof glass, and a psychic ability which is how he tormented Peter and learned about Claire being Bennett's daughter. in other words he has a number of the powers of the other heroes.

sylars power or ability is to be able to see what makes things tick and how they work. he was killing others who had powers then cutting their brain open and once he seen the workings of their brain knew how their power worked so was able to have that same ability or power because he knew how they did it. that was why the girl in the last show blew her brains out so sylar would not be able to learn how her power worked and get it. sylar did not fix his first victim. he killed him to learn his power.

Sylar knows how things work, so if their broken or if someone doesn't want that thing working he takes it/ or he just takes it anyways.....like he wanted the cheerleaders powers but he got caught

Possibly. Maybe this ability to 'fix' things that are broken, is the only reason he knows how to absorb other powers in the first place. Otherwise, how would a simple watchmaker be able to do such things? HTH : )

Sylar has the power to rewire his own DNA to add the power of others. He is collecting their powers to make him special.

He is kind of like Peter he just absorbs it. He has power he just has to take extra steps to acheive it I don't think he eats the brain. The hereos has something extra in their brain.

He can see how things work. He also absorbs the powers his victims had.

He sees how things work and fixes them. That is why he has to look at the brains of other heroes ...to see how they work and then apply it to himself.

The guys ahead of me are right....and we have no way of knowing just how many he has killed for their powers already.....no telling what he can do.
