I am white and I think the word is offensive. I don't like for anyone to be considered a "minority" We're all people and I think it's ashame to call someone that. There are just as many if not more african americans in this country and I see hispanics everywhere. I think society should stop using this word. If I were a person of color, I would find it offensive to be called that. I also don't like how everything has to be black and white. People are people. We all evolve from adam and eve. That's my opinion. Just seeing what you guys think.

I didn't really mean I thought it was "racist". Just sort of offensive. Just something I wondered.

The term minority doesn't necessarily refer to skin color. It just means that there are less of a certain type than another. Republicans are the minority in the House right now, the handicapped are minorities, and (for the time being) people of color are as well (in most areas). White people are minorities in Los Angeles (and most parts of the world for that matter).
So to answer your question, no, I'm not offended by the term. It doesn't necessarily refer to me, and I simply don't have the energy to get offended by all the labels people make up for everyone else.

No. People of color being a minority in this country is fact. There's no way around it, and there is nothing racist about that fact.
67% of people in this country are non-Hispanic whites.
The remaining 33% are some variety of Black, Latino, Asian, Mid-Eastern, etc.
White people BY FAR make up the majority of this country. There are literally towns in this country which lack a single non-white. If you want to know if whites make up the majority in your neighborhood, this tool will tell you the exact racial composition of wherever you live:

You may find that, on a local scale, you are the minority. But if you are a white person in this country, the chances of that are slim.

The reason they are called minorities is because there are less of them than the majority. It's not meant to be offensive. Yes black and spanish people still are the minority.

Well you kind of get use to it. That's all I hear when they are referring to black, hispanics/latinos, asians, native americans etc. I really don't find it offensive but I would prefer they use another word instead of minorities.

i imagine it is an argument of their own opinion. they say they see a glance or way of shifting or expression that stirs an admiration or some thing in them. I gotta' say...i have heard it stated with such soul that i concept it really is going to be recorded. And at the same time as oftentimes I disapprove of judging by using actual visual allure (and by using "fantastic" i imagine they propose more desirable than that), it really is a lot nicer than, "WOW did you word the A__ on that chick?", "GEEEZZ look on the honkers on that babe!".....all of which ought to bring about a short reformatory time period that could enable the adult males to understand (from own journey) how ugly it really is to be dealt with like meat (except for for sure, those women and adult males who like that type of ingredient) You do understand i'm kidding about that. Italian and French adult males (many) have a similar paintings, of being brazenly admiring without being insulting, at the same time as German and Dutch adult males only look to reveal screen and smile a touch and also you ought to reveal screen heavily to work out it.

In South Africa I am part of:
White minority;
Gay minority.
I agree people are people, but I am still part of a minority group. Recognising that is not offending me at all, but might assist in protecting my rights as part of a minority.
