For anyone who knows anything about the two, or about martial arts, this question is a JOKE. Seagal would DESTROY Van Damme. Look, I don't love Seagal (he beat the crap out of Kelly Lebrock (sp?)) However, he is one of the HIGHEST ranking NON-ASIAN Aikido practitioners in the WORLD. He studied in Japan, not some watered down American dojo (hey, I'm American, but to compare the training there, to MOST of the training here is a joke). He was a 5th Dan (5th degree) when he made his FIRST movie (which for him seems like 80 years, and as many bad movies ago). Aside from that, he is much bigger than Van Damme, stronger than him, and has INCREDIBLY quick hands for his size. Oh, and for Sartoris, I hope you were joking about Jackie Chan...

Steven Seagal all the way and here is why:
jEAN CLAUDE VAN DAMME
When Jean-Claude Van Damme became an international film star, there was some debate as to his ring accomplishments. Former multiple World Kickboxing Champion Don "The Dragon" Wilson even offered Jean-Claude a "$100,000" bounty match to get into the ring and fight him. Van Damme brushed off the "challenge" as a publicity stunt. But, the truth of the matter was that Jean-Claude Van Damme had indeed had a kick-boxing career, which turned out to be very successful on the European scene. He fought under his birth name of Jean-Claude Vandenberg. Fighting as a middleweight he captured a version of the European Middleweight Kickboxing Championship in 1980 with a first round knockout which was recorded in less than a minute. His career however, lasted only a few years as his interest lay in a film career. Jean-Claude's record was 12-1 with 12 knockouts.
STEVEN SEAGAL
The enigmatic Seagal commenced his martial arts training at the age of seven under the tutelage of well known karate instructor and author Fumio Demura, and in the 1960s commenced his aikido training in Orange County, California, under the instruction of Harry Ishisaka. Seagal received his first dan accreditation in 1974, after he had moved to Japan to further his martial arts training. After spending many years there honing his skills, he achieved the ranking of a 7th dan in the Japanese martial art "aikido" and was instructing wealthy clients in Los Angeles when he came to the attention of Hollywood power broker Michael Ovitz

I don't like either of them. They'd probably knock each other out with their oversized egos long before either had the chance to throw a punch or a kick.

Van Damme...at least, God I hope so! Jackie Chan would kick both their butts, though.

I think they are both a lot of Hollywood hype.
I don't care much for either of them after I read about their personal lives.
Clint Eastwood could still kick both of their @sses.
