For as long as we can remember (lol, not long at all in the grand scheme of time), we have been alive.

As far as we know, we are not dead.

We have never felt like we were unborn.

Therefore, wouldn't others born in times past and times after us, feel the same way?

So to people who are dead to us, to them they are alive;

And to people, from our perspective, who have not been born, have always existed, from their perspective.

So, are we:

A. Dead

B. Alive

C. All of the Above

or

D. None of the above

Please explain

Could it be that time is a man made function and is improper to use in the calculation of life or death?

Are we already dead, and we will realize it once we retrace our lives to our physical death (after all, our lives are short, 100 years, in comparison to how long the earth has been here, 1 billion years; that's like 1 second in over 31 years!!!)?

Or some other reason?

P.S. This is not an issue of pre-destination.

dead or alive, we're all constantly lost to some degree. in order to be conscious that we're lost, i'd say we're very much alive.

that said, it's all cause i figure dead is nothing. alive is at least something.

WTF kinda question is that? Of course we're alive. At least in the sense that we have physical bodies that function to some degree. If we didn't we wouldn't be able to post rediculous questions on these pages. Were we dead before we were alive? Probably, but not necessarily in the sense we deem dead (Cessation of all bodily functions including thought). As we really can't answer that question or the question of what happens after our bodies cease to function then I suggest that it's a moot point and not worth wasting precious time worrying about. We'll find out (or not) after we pass from this plane of existence.

We are already dead.

All paths lead to death.

Before birth could be Death.

Since we cannot choose not to die, we are dead.

If we physically die, and our memories/actions live on in others and in the planet, we are still dead. Death is no clear in its meaning but from how you are saying it, sounds like a death of figurative sense.

In that case we are always dead, since we are made out of matter, which is not alive, only by standards that we can attach to it. Since you say you are alive, you mean consciously alive, yet sleeping is not death. So I stick with my thought process.
"Everyone is Dead"

Or maybe not, Not sure. Life and Death are meaningless, since they are just words to describe ideas. So whatever I say is wrong.

Very convuluted question, but I would dare to say break it down to science? If you feel alive because you breathe your brain works then you are alive. The dead bodies however yep they are dead all right. But are their souls, and spirits among us. Well I would say because nothing in that capacity dies ever because it life is infinite. The atoms of the dead body are recycled and still alive as well in another form. So the question is Will it Go Round in Circles? Yep it is probably called for a better term recycling of life.

our days being alive are short, that is true. we are alive now because our heart beats and our brain functions...but the dead are dead...at least to us. this is one of these things that no one can figure out...everyone will have a different take on it. i do believe that after death many things will be revealed to us...and this will be one of them. thinking about it as hard as you have been is not good for you... you will find no answers. i do believe that man has invented time...because to the earth there is only now...

and who is to know what is in the minds of the dead or the unborn....

it's all a matter of consciousness. We are consciuos of our existence for a certain period of our lives (for instance at the age of two weeks we are not conscious of it, or when we have a disease who avoids us to). Than it's not the same being alive and being conscious that we exist. Life defines itself to the fact that our organism works and has exchanges with his environment, so we are alive as long as our body works.
We are alive, we will be dead, time passes, that's life.

We were dead before God created us in wombs of our mothers. Now we are alive going through trials, than our Creator will take our life.On the day of Resurrection we will be raised from our graves and judged before we enter an eternal life.Which is the real life.So my answer is YES,we are alive now-thinking,making decisions. But this life isn't an end in itself,it is just a beginning.

i'm truly needed, useless. Oxford college has requested my mind for analyze applications after I've complete with it. (heavily!) yet as for the Christian theology... I used to believe that, yet what i got here across contained in the bible and its heritage and that of the Christian church (studying to coach Christianity with more effective precision, James 3:a million) finally directed me to atheism.

Perhaps we are already dead, and this world is meant for redemption from our past lives
