The original Mr. Michael Keaton. He was very mysterious in that movie which is what made him so great.

Michael Keaton was the best. Even better than the original Adam West. Christian Bale is a good trade but keaton will always be Batman for me. Val was the worst...

I like George Clooney and thought he brought a suaveness to the character. I really like Christian Bale too. Michael Keaton, and of course, Adam West, were great too!
I can honestly say that all of them fit the mask well as the Dark Knight.
Maybe a better question to ask (and to answer), is which Batman costume do you like the best?

from a cinematic point of view i would have to say Michael Keaton, but from a character perspective, Christian Bale is the closest to the original character of Batman as portrayed in Bob Kanes iconic comic book adventures. George Clooney was the worse Batman ever, or perhaps it was joel Schumacher who screwed up. Val Kilmer was okay, but his Batman was just grumpy, where as Christian Bales Batman was driven. bare in mind that each of these movies take place at different time and seasons of Bruce Waynes life as Batman.

Val Kilmer!
I just really love the angle they took on Batman Forever and Val Kilmer's version of Bruce Wayne/Batman appeals to me the most out of all of them.
I just couldn't get into Michael Keaton as Batman AT ALL!
For me he will ALWAYS be the loveable and hilarious Mr. Mom and the dark, mysterious way he played Batman just seemed all wrong for him.

Michael Keaton, just look at him... he was born to play the role as the dark knight, he can go from whimsy and funny, to edgy and serious in an instant. Clooney flat out sucked, Kilmer was not much better, and Bale was about 3 degrees shy of pitiful.
what got me was the fact that they tried to tie "batman begins" in to the first batman starring Keaton, in which his parents died in a whole different way, i mean what the hell??? what happened to the line the gunman/joker used in the movie "Have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight?" that was the joker's opening moment.........jeesh!!!
