For Metal: Cave In( they would fit in Alt Rock too), Meshuggah, Amorphis, Soilwork, Sentenced, In Flames, NightWish, From Autumn To Ashes(although they may be too emo for you), Opeth, Children Of Bodom, Fozzy, and you can never go wromg with some Metallica

my chemical romance, fall out boy,panic! at the disco, and evanescence. none of these bands r emo even thought ppl say they are. trust me on this one, these bands are awesome but the "newest" i would stronly reccommend listening to is panic!.

viking metal. search up ensiferum and turmion kaitilot. (The second one the spelling may be off and there are some accent marks in there somewhere). the second one u cant understand wat they are saying because its in some european language but ensiferum is like epic metal. its pretty cool.
