Bats are mammals and thus give birth to live babies. How do they do this? what do they look like? are they fully functional at birth? can they fly right after birth?

Not very much is known about the reproduction of bats because their nocturnal lifestyles and secretive natures have made it a challenge to study them. There are many types of bats and most of them mate at different times of year so it is hard to make a statement about reproduction for all bats.
The gestational periods are usually about 40 days to 8 months. Most bats have one baby each year. Some have twins, and a hairy-tailed bat has triplets. The reproductive cycles of hibernating bats are often interrupted. Some hibernating bats such as the little brown bats, mate in the fall and hibernate in the winter.
The male sperm remains unused in the female body until early spring. Once the male sperm becomes active, fertilization takes place. For some types of bats the fertilization takes place right after mating, but then the fertilized egg stops developing for several months.

Most female bats produce only one offspring per year, although some species give birth to three or four babies at a time. The gestation period (pregnancy) lasts only a few weeks. U.S. baby bats are born in May or June. They develop rapidly, and most can learn to fly within two to five weeks after birth. Bats live relatively long lives for animals of their small size, some as long as 30 years.

Interesting link HC. As I think you meant to imply, and as I will state directly-- This story in World Net Daily is an obvious attempt to make people think that the National Press Club is sponsoring the event, when in fact the National Press Club is doing nothing except renting a room to these people. In my opinion, this kind of misdirection tells you that the We The People Foundation and Word Net Daily are not merely misled or misinformed; they are dishonest.
