hey - i found forty bucks in a garbage can at the gas station the other day (no, i wasn't digging in the garbage - it was lying right on top and i saw it when i threw a towelette away)- guess someone didn't put enough $$ in their tank and wanted to throw a bit more away. Obviously, I did what any person would do and I put it in my purse. What else are you going to do? Give it to the station clerk and say you found it in the garbage can in case someone comes back for it? Ha ha. Now, if I would have found it on the station on the floor, then I would have turned it in. But in a garbage can?! Nope- that's fair game.

I will initially give it to anyone looking for the note. If no one is there. I will pocket it but the money will be redirected to some cause like Tsunami relief or whatever available in stores like Walmart or Staples.

Take it to police station , even it is ten dollars. If no one claim it . The money yours . It is the matter of intergrity rather take it for granted.
I know a girl who is a single mom with five kids. She found thousands of dollars and turned the money in to the station. They appreciated of her honesty. The community heard about her. The sponsors send the letters and money!!!! She was tingled....
