You cant get the dents out, but think of a creative way to cover the corners with symbols, signs, lettering , or three D objects. If you were doing a project on temperauter, cut out a big thermometer and glue it over the dented corner. Made a corner cover out of a different color paper and put one on each corner.

I wish there was an easier way to describe this without illustrations to show you but the good news is you can "fix" it to a degree.

In order to do this you need a very sharp x-acto blade, a steel edge ruler, and heavy card-stock or poster board, white glue, putty or filler (method #2)

There are two ways to do this depending on your project...

Method #1)
Precisely measure the width of your foam core as well as the length of each edge. Carefully cut the correct dimensions from your heavy paper and glue them around the edges from one corner to the next to form a "frame". You can then cut a neat triangle to cover each corner on the upper surface and glue into place.

Method #2)
This method is good t o use if your foam core is the base of a structure of some sort such as a scenery or diorama. Build a frame as you did in method #1 but instead of cutting the upper triangle, fill in any gaps with a light wood filler or plaster of Paris. Sand lightly when dry and paint if required.

Remember, precision measurements and cuts are the key to a neat finish.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

Sculpey clay is less expensive than potter's clay???? The most expensive kaolin I have ever seen is about a dollar per pound. Most pottery clay is more like 25 cents a pound Anyway, the first answer was correct, foam core will melt and can burn. But if you're using it for pottery clay, who cares? When you fire the piece, the foam core will be consumed, but by that time you no longer need it as the solidified clay will be able to support its own weight

If you can't figure out a way to work the dents into the design you will have to get a new board. I work with this stuff every day and dents are a real problem. Gator fome is similar but much tougher and less apt to dent but it is a b**** to cut.

Unfortunately, there's no way to get the dents out.
