With agriculture came private property, among other things. Would we have been better off as scavengers, horticulturalists etc etc ?

what the?!

if that's the case then i don't think we would have all the comforts of modern technology right now.. agriculture or developing agriculture is one of the most basic steps a country/society has to make in order to develop..

take a look at countries who didn't put improtance on agriculture.. most of them are poor..

Jared Diamond's book "Germs, Guns and Steel" explains that agriculture increased food production, and this allowed cities to be sustained. Through labour specialisation and technology a greater standard and quality of living ensured.

Australian aborigines never developed agriculture. Look what happened to them.

We are meant to/made to evolve/ develope this way
someone would have thought of agriculture and others would follow
its only a matter of time

as for whether is it a mistake i guess that would depend on the individual
i say no

Say what? Biggest mistake ever made is letting other's sneak over and pick the harvest for us, now there are more pickers than there are oranges.
