well i tend to keep my feelings to myself... so i never got a chance to tell them i like them...

Yes.
It was probably a secret because I felt embarassed or ashamed. One time I even had a fling with someone while my relationship was dying, yet not dead, and I didn't want the disgrace that came along with it. Usually it is only a secret when you don't want anyone else to know about it, otherwise you tell everyone!
