I think the age should be lifted. I lived in Holland for many years and the driving age is 18. In the US you can have a licensed driver teach you. Not there. You need to go to driving school and get certified their only.
Too many kids die from driving around like they know everything and are invincible. I think it's a great idea to raise the driving age.

Most states now have restrictions on driving until the driver reaches age 18, restricting the driving to certain hours and restricting age and number of passengers. I would hope all drivers be wreckless. IE, not having wrecks. Or perhaps you meant reckless.

reckless (adj.) Heedless or careless.
reckless (adj.) Indifferent to or disregardful of consequences: a reckless driver.

And no, I don't think all young drivers act like idiots or drive muscle cars, nor do I think that somehow 18 is a magic age where everyone now is responsible.

When I was 16 I would have said no. I was so happy when I got my license at 16. I was a good driver and my parents told me driving was a privilege, not a right. Now I'm older and I don't think I would be against raising the driving age to 18.

I think that the average 16-year-old is a better driver than many adults. If parents think their child isn't ready to drive, then they need to decide that. It's not fair to punish all the kids because of a few. In Holland they probably have the same deal as in Germany. You can't drive until 18, but you can drink at 16. I do agree with not having a bunch of drunken teenagers driving.

I think it should be 18. It is 16 in CT and I know I was not as ready as I though I was.....I was lucky and have never had an accident, but there are many drivers out there too young to drive. They also need more time behind the wheel and curfews! My other issue is talking on cell phones. No one should be on the cell phone in the car. Especially in CT where it is illegal, yet everyone continues to do it. No one under the age of 21 should be doing it if it is legal in the state. They need more experience and cell phones only cause accidents. How do you explain to someone that you killed their loved one because you thought that you were better than the law and talked on your cell phone?

I don't think they should punish the mature responsible kids by making them wait longer but I do think that something other than being old enough and passing a test should be required. Maybe they should have to have a certain GPA in school to get a license before they graduate.

Not sure, but there seems to be an abundance of idiots in every age group. I think there should be more severe penalties for DUI, road-rage, and just downright dangerous stupidity. I think three strikes and your out would be a great idea for driving privileges.

No they will drive that way no matter what age they get their license. It is up to the parent to ensure they are safe and capable drivers before allowing them to get their license

absolutely, but I think that a large percentage of drivers of all ages must have gotten their drivers license as a prize out of a Cracker Jack box, if they had gotten them from a legitimate source they would show some applied knowledge on the road.

Great idea!

But suspect instead of hearing about dead 16 year olds in big muscle cars, you would then hear about dead 18 year olds in big muscle cars.

Parents need to stop giving those things to their kids.
