French is my all time favorite cuisine. The way all the flaors come together and pop in your mouth! Divine.

Young people, I am assuming 25 and under, I don't think many of them know anything about cuisine, but rather budget. I see many young adults in chains, ie, Applebees, Ruby Tuesdays, etc.

My favorite restaurant is on San Francisco Bay, with a view, and serves a variety of seafood, steaks, and pastas. They also do lunch during the week and brunch on the weekends. There are big screen TVs in the bar, if you want to watch a game, but the dining room is relaxed and suitable. We have had large dinner parties (26 people) there and intimate dinners for two. It's all good.
The food is truly marvelous. The wait staff is great, really good! When you leave, the owners thank you for coming to their restaurant.

Food wise, I like all kinds of restaurants - Italian, Mexican, Chinese... I tend to prefer smaller, non-chain, type restaurants over the nationwide, homogonized places that advertise all over the television. I think restaurants are more about entertainment than the food these days. They have to have a "gimmick" to get people in the door.

I like a place that can cook as well or better than I cook. I've never found that in a chain. For breakfast, I like good strong coffee (please leave the carafe on the table) and no surprises in the eggs and grits, etc. For dinner, surprise me but pay attention to good ingredients and skillful preparation. For lunch excellent soup and salad are essential. Really, I don't know how you can have really good food in a restaurant and still make money. It's a wonder to me.

Everyone over 40 wants a nice home cooked type meal, whereas the younger one's want the fast food, because it is cheap and quick. They never used to have fast food, it was all prepared as ordered, now everything is made up so it goes quick and I think that is why we have so many problems with food poisoning.
