I'm not planning this as a name for my own daughter, I just know I've heard it used as a girl's first name but I don't remember where. Probably TV but it's been driving me nuts for days!

It is a pretty name, but I would hate to have a daughter whose nickname is Mac.
That seems to be way to masculine.

YES!!! i love this name. I used to teach preschool b4 i became a mom and one of the little girls in my class was named McKenna. Her mother said that when they were naming her they were torn between Michael and Kenneth ( she was supposed to be a he ) so they picked them both and when "he" was born they had no girl names, had fallen in love with Kenneth Michael, that they just flipped the names around and named her McKenna. Whenever someone on Answers asks for a girl name recommendation, I always give out McKenna.

Yes, I've heard of several baby girls named that in the last few years. My cousin even named her 2nd daughter that.

There's a girl from my hometown that just named her daughter McKenna. I don't like it, but it was her mother's choice.
