I have a good friend named Dana, but I think it sounds dated for a guy. The girl's name is cute, though.

I like it a lot for a girl but it seems kind of dated to me now. I had a lot of Dana's in my high school and I graduated in 98.
My husband has a friend named Dana. I do not like it for a guy at all. He doesn't see anything wrong with it though...guess it is just me with issues.
It is a nice name. SD

Dana is cute for a girl. I have always liked James as a first name for a boy. Jamie for short, or James "something" and called by his middle name.

It's O.K. but there are quite a few Dana's my son is dating one and my other son went with a Dana for severalyears, before he married Rachel. How about the name Danaka, that's the female race car driver. She pretty and adventureous, and your daughter would be more unique. It's prononuced Dan-A-Ka.

I really don't like the name Dana (Dayna) for a girl, but I know a guy named Dana ( Danna) I really like that. he gets called dayna all the time, but he's in his 30's and his name is pronounced Danna. That's really different.

I've known several girls and a couple of boys named Dana. Sometimes they spell it Danna. I've always thought it was a very unusual name that didn't fit either a boy or a girl.

i've know both male and female Danas'.
i don't personally like the name for either. it's very plain. maybe if the spelling was a bit different. ya, know...modern twist to a classic name?
Dayna for a girl
Danah for a boy
just a thought :)

Not huge on Dana but if you are going to use it I think Dana Renee flows very nicely (a girlfriend's name).
For a boy....
