A huge chunk of land in the (present-day) mid-west United States. Bought from France in 1802 or 1803 I believe (not 100% certain on those dates) by Thomas Jefferson, our third President. The Louisiana Purchase covered the expanse of (present day) Louisiana, Arkansas, Kansas, Oklahoma, North and South Dakota, Nebraska, Mississippi, and Wyoming. Not the entirety of all those states but a part of them.

Thomas Jefferson bought Louisiana from Napoleon Bonaparte for 6 million US dollars witch is ruffly translated to 11 cents an acre at the time Louisiana stretch from the bottom of Texas to the top of Montana Louise and Clark where Commissioned to explore it. Louise met Sacajawea and had a baby and Clark went back to Washington DC thats about all i know about it

i agree with charlie... there is ton of information on the web. another thing that you might want to look at is manifest destiny (the idea that it is god's plan that americans inhabit all land from sea to shining sea) combined with the louisiana purchase.
