Hollywood pressure to stay in the papers...peer pressure. To much $$ and to little brains. They're doing the same things I did,
at their age. They just more money to do it with. PLUS, lack of
parental control. Their parents let them do whatever they want...

Drugs/Alchohol And celebrities go together for the reason, u look at most ppl who do drugs or drink they do it because the are suffering from some form of depression or emotional problems and just because they have money and because they look happy on the out side dosent mean that they are.

Pressure... pressure that they are 'unable' to control. I think using drugs seems to help them (cope) make it through the day.probably even the moment, but more often than not, as unfortunate as it has been to so many celebrities that are in the spotlight it seems to be the only road that can get them across the bridge.
I just try to imagine how it must be to wake up everyday knowing that I am going to keep on living a life that they make.
OH YEAH, I forgot to mention if they can stay that high on drugs and keep on entertaining (and you know they can), they certainly can 'act' or 'buy' their selves some more 'time'. Do you know what I mean?

Its always been that way!
Even way,way back with the early jazz and soul singers and bands of the 20s& 30s.The drugs of choice then, heroin, cocaine, cannabis and alcohol. Even though this was during the period of American prohibition of alcohol.
As everyone realizes banning doesn't stop it.
Some of the most explicit drug songs ever written, were written in this era.
Drugs were commenly used in all ares of the industry, film, club and stage.
But seldom made headlines and there was no T.V.
A lot, if not most had come from very poor backgrounds and racial segregation and discrimination added to what were often already tragic lives. You can hear it in the music!
The 4os&5os brought a cleaner image, maybe because of the end of the war.
People saw it a a chance for a mew happylife.
But just underneath the problem still remained. It was the alcohol ,presciption drugs cocaine and cannabis. Also the "upper" needed to keep you perky for endless reherals and retakes.Always helped keep the weight under contol as well.
The 60s&70s saw the introduction of youth culture,at the start of the 60s it was all still pretty innocent.A few smoked cannabis and took prescription drugs not to prescipton dose. But heroin &cocaine were still more likely to be used among the older muso's, left over from the 30s.
Alcohol was the main drug until,"flower power"hit.
Suddenly you wern't a real singer or band with cred.if you didn't "turn on" with every drug available. The new L.S.D. popped along but, good old alcohol was still in front.
Remember even at this stage, singers and bands, or as they were then called "groups",didn't make the sort of performence money that that is made today.
Even the top names would be struggling to maintain a habit.
Without a little help from your friends, the fans.
Unless you made a complete idiot of yourself or did the ole O.D.trick the media mostly only hinted at the drug or alcohol use of the "stars".
It was at this time that the "after party" tradition began and with it free drugs for the "stars".
By this time every drug imaginable or that had been invented was being well abused by 99% of the enteraitnment industry.
Why,because you could!
That was really the only excuse most had.
Sure there were those with problems, but more left with problems than entered.
Maybe the pressure to be cool? Maybe to hide unspoken insecurites of worth and or body image? Nobody talked about it much they were too busy ruining their minds and wrecking their bodies and having fun.
The trail of human wreckage in the industry was only surpassed by that of the 80s90s.
Stars began to act like stars, but along side was this counter culture that evolved as punk. This was also the time of the Mangager.Managers were in control, they didn't only control where&when you worked but who you worked with.Their desicions ruining many promising futures, were often personally based.
They controlled what was recorded and how, what you wore and even who you slept with.Or they tried. Many gained that control through giving "free" drugs, then kept it.
A lot of young artists had no clue about contracts and management. Most didn't even know how much money they earn't.
It didn't seem relevant so long as you had a credit card in your pocket. Many careers were destroyed by the results and the artists left literally out in the cold with a raging habit.
The media found out quickly that "celeb" drug stories sold.
Its human nature to get a kick out of seeing the mighty fall.
Those that got through this era did rehab.Got real mangement and realistic contracts that allowed at least some artistic choice.
They threw away the bong, wore long sleeves till the track marks went and tossed out thier black books. They tried to stay sane as the flash bulbs popped as soon as they stuck their head out the door.
Finally accepted the fact that thier private life didn't exist, and they were public property.
Sure they were now millionaires. Butlike birds in gilded cages. No privacy,no freedom,no chance to do normal things like normal people.
So for too many drugs become a solace,a quiet place to escape all the hype ,just for a while.
Problem is you never know who is watching in that time chosen to escape.
But now money is now no problem. So its just a case of contacting your bevy of legal advisors, management advisors and financial advisors and letting them sort it out for you.
Then just lie low till its someone else's turn.
In addition, think how magazine sales would plummet if the "celebs" didn't do their bit for sales.

They have the cash to buy it. They attend parties that are overflowing with it. it's part of the 'celebrity lifestyle' - something like, they're privileged to do such 'coz in a way they can pay themselves out of jail. They're spoiled brats and have nothing else better to do.

I think because they have the money and even though to us their life is a fantasy, to them it isn't. They feel they need the drugs to escape.

dude it is because drugs/alcohol bring out the best in people. and they just love having a good time. so they smoke a little drink a little and it makes the night a little crazier. plus they are wicked rich so they have alot of expendable income that they can use on whatever they want
