Are we 'humans'...? As opposed to what? Elephants? Haha j/k.

Unconditional love is a teachable concept. Within the animal world, love can most be equated with survival (instinct)--[as in a mother keeping her young safe] and mating (hormones) as opposed the higher level of its meaning in humans.

What we know of emotions, is that they are biochemical processes - the realm of emotional ability is greatly influenced by genes and nurturing. In extreme cases, for example, a psychopath does not have the wiring for empathy or 'love'. Or someone with a mood disorder (say bipolar [points to self, ha]) might feel a wide range of emotions out of the range an average person might feel, hence, those who have genius ability in music and the arts...

So, between a person's ability, or limitations (determined by genes) along with proper role modeling and OF COURSE, being shown unconditional love, it becomes more than a concept - it is an ethic or value which is very real.

No one masters this endeavor, it is something to be strived for, and why? Well, we all want that for ourselves, no?

"Be the change you wish to see in the world" --Gandhi

The best person to ask this question is yourself. What do you think you are capable of? I think you are capable of things past the stars in your imagination and beyond the beat of your heart.

(good question!)

I really don't think so. I believe only dogs are capable of unconditional love. If you did not take a bath for a month, do you think any of your loved ones would come near you? But your dog will. If you rob, steal and sell drugs will your relatives still love you. The dog will. Only the dog.

yes we are. It is a dedicated battle ( facing our fear and loving ourselves and our mirrors) with various aspects of creation to overcome the programming and his-story that has been loaded upon us since humanity has been here. by living a life of impeccable integrity we are able to raise above the crud and unconditionally love ourselves and then once we are able to do this for ourselves as personal responsibility we can then offer it to the world and humanity.
