The schools cannot act as a parent for any child left in its care. Depending on the serious nature of the disruption, law should be contacted to deal with the problem for two reasons. First, to make sure the parents of the child and the child both know how serious the problem is. Second it will discourage other children to immitate the behaviors of the disruptive student.
If the principal called and asked you to take your child to a psychologist to correct a behavior problem, would you? If you were called in as a parent to and were asked to speak with the arresting officer, how would you react? Would you make sure your child went to see a councilor? I bet you would.
The court records for minors are usually sealed. They will not affect the child's future unless they are constantly in trouble with the law.

I believe that is something the parents should decide. Expel the kid yes, but to refer a student to an agency. Too many law suits. No, get the parents involved, police, and the courts if necessary, but let them take actions like that and have the schools concentrate on what they are suppose to be doing.... Teaching. Schools should not have to take on the added responsibility at least not to that degree. Schools normally don't call the police unless it is something really serious, so if they call then it would be of a serious nature.

Sure, having a non-police option might save the police and the courts time and money, as well as offer a solution to the problem that does not involve creating a criminal record for the minor.
Having more options is always good.

Straight to the police is a drastic & counter productive action for the students. An agency that specialise in counseling and helping the students should be better if the offense committed is not
criminal.

yep
ignore the police, theyve got murderers and pot smokers to catch
a disrupitve juvenile may just want attention and getting help would help them instead of involving the police without needing to
