One should not have to wait til Christmas to give a gift. If it comes from the heart it's a good thing. Jesus is the reason for the season.

It's oxymoronic to consider "luck" in association with Christmas, sweetie. Technically, Christmas celebrates the birth of Christ, and the giving of gifts can represent appreciating Christ as a gift to the world (skip all the commercialism propoganda).

So....giving gifts anytime during this season is completely appropriate.

If you're celebrating the "Holidays", then there's no mystical association at all!

You can't lose...give away!

It is not bad luck to give gifts before Christmas or after. Don't forget the song the twelve days of Christmas. I believe it starts with Christmas eve and ends with the Epiphany, that is when Jesus, Mary and Joseph rode to Bethlehem to get away from the soldiers who were told to kill all the baby boys.

It is never bad luck to give gifts before or after, or during Christmas. It's all positive and good feel vibes. Merry Christmas!
