I certainly hope that the prosecution continues to go after the parents. This was an outright clear case of parental neglect and criminal negligence. This was not a fault of the dog, as any reasonable person educated about dogs would realize.

OMG I don't know! My bf and I saw that on the news and freaked! We would totally adopt this dog if given the chance. We already have a rottie and would love another addition to the family. Besides, who in their right mind leaves a puppy and a baby in the same room together without supervision long enough for a puppy to get so bored and/or hungry that it chews on a baby's toes! No ones ever heard of teething? (The puppy I mean.) And the mom and/or dad didn't hear the baby screaming as the puppy chewed it's toes off? Yeah right. I think the parents are to blame, not the puppy.

In most cases I've seen here in Georgia, it was an adult dog that had chewed or bit or mauled an infant, child, or toddler- and the dog was put down. In this case, even though it's a puppy, it may be put down, and I do suspect that the parent(s) will be investigated, as the baby should have been crying in a way that indicated the little girl was more than hungry, fussy, or just needed to be changed. Reguardless of what breed, any doctor, parenting book will tell you never to leave an infant where a family pet- no matter how docile they have been, can get to them.

its a puppy, puppies chew, the parents should be charged with neglect and animal crewelty then the dog adopted out. yea its bad that the puppy did that but how out of it did the parents have to be to not hear the baby crying till after it was done. the puppy doesnt deserve to be put down just b/c it had bad owners, its to young to know what it can and cant chew on. with the right owner pits are excelant dogs, now this dog should have the chance to find the right owner. would u hold ure 1 year old responciable for injuring his one year old playmate while u were sleeping, i think not

I completely agree that pit bulls are picked on way too plenty, any dogs may well be aggressive, it actual relies upon on how they are raised, and taken care of. And to the guy who responded this question first... Watch your mouth, and no person reported that the ferret appeared like a pit bull, the mothers and fathers did not even see it take place. And FYI if the pit grew to become into going to attack the toddler, it would have finished a hell of so plenty greater harm than the dogs... get your information at present.

If there's any justice...nothing will happen to the puppy. It is my understanding that he is only 6 weeks old and was trying to nurse. What kind of idiots take a puppy away from its mother so young? That poor dog was probably miserable.

Now the PARENTS should be charged with child neglect. That poor baby will always know that he doesn't have his toes because of their stupidity. Haven't they ever heard of a BABY CRIB?

And where was the mother or someone? That is not typical puppy behaviour, even a pit puppy. Would have taken quite a bit for that to happen if it did. Unsupervised pup and infant!!!

My first question would be where were the parents?. More than Likely the puppy would be put down and the parents charged with neglect on both the child and dog.
