The ancient roman empire had a very similar government.
The romans are known as the creators of democracy.
They came up with the idea of a Veto system.
They had a checks & balance system like we do
More to come -- give me a sec to look back
Rome was both an Empire and a Republic at one time or another

1. Knowledge, logic and philosophy are held in higher esteem than the wisdom and common sense found in God's Word. Rebellion and disobedience against the ten commandments or Law.
2. An insatiable desire for pleasure seeking and living for the moment that leads to the destruction of both cultures. (Hedonism)
3. The appetite for sex and violence run rampant.

They loved arena "sports" as much as we do today. (Pro Wresling is inane, yes, but remains popular.) Lots of bloodlust in Ancient Rome and the modern US. Personally, I'll take gladiators over modern day athletes any day.
