Winter time at Fort Drum NY, 1/2 hr from Canada. It was right after PT, I need gas, kaput...about a block from the station. My roommate and I push the whole way.

You'd think being on an army installation, we would of had men helping us left and right, Nope! Not that day ; )

I have run out of gas on numerous occasions. To prevent, or better yet, to help with this problem I started keeping a gas can in my truck. This helps. But if you are looking for a fix I would start watching the mileage.

Once, when my husband and I first started dating, we ran out of gas while we were on the way to get his check cashed so he could buy gas. Luckily, it was right in front of a gas station and he knew someone that was there and the person let my husband borrow some money to get gas.

Yes on a country highway with 3 small kids many years ago. I had filled up the car the day before and my husband had used the car and neglected to refill the tank! I had to persuade an old farm couple to call my husband.

Yes, the sending unit in the car was broken so I had to guess how much gas was in it by the mileage. Guess I was off a bit.

WOW! What a coincidence that you asked this question, I ran out of gas today 12/13/06. My sister didn't tell me that her empty/full reading, was a little of. I drove her color today and without a warning, it just died, right in the middle of traffic. I wanted to climb in a hole from embarrassment.

Oh gee my bad, we're out of gas I guess we're stuck here.....

only a couple of times, and i felt like such an idiot, because the last time i was in a hurry and just blew by the gas station figuring i probably had enough to get to where i was going and i could get gas there, and wouldn't you know it, 5 blocks down the road ka-chunk ka-chunk di-i-i-i-i--e...roll to a stop, in traffic, horns honking, one finger salute comming my way from everyone, really made my day. i really hope that was the last time.

No, I won't let my car run out of gas. But, my ex's truck ran out of gas--on his way to Thanksgiving dinner with me and my family, the first Thanksgiving we were together! He had called me and my dad had to go and get him! lol This made him late, so I was always able to call him late for dinner! lol
