I have a friend I've known for almost 20 years. Two years ago, after helping him with his divorce, he met a woman online who attracted him. When another friend approached me to marry my friend and this woman, I refused. I did not think she was a nice person, all she could talk about was her daughters, who she had lost to her previous husband, and how she could get them back. After his other friend got them married, it was one fight after another. When they moved out of town, I lost track of him for almost a year. When I finally do hear from him again, it was to find out his wife had kicked him out, only two months after getting her daughters back - she only married him to get the girls again.

So my wife and I take him in, help him get some clothes, and start taking him back to church. He left last week Thursday, intent on coming back to us for the weekend, but we never heard anything from him since. I wish I knew what has happened, but this seems to be the way things are.

You can't always choose your friends, sometimes they find you. But no matter what, do what you can, when you can - that's what friends are all about.

I took out small loan to help my friend out with her car with it died because she is a single mom of 3. But I totally got burned. She came into money 8 months later and brought her son a car (when she hadn't paid me bk yet) and I was not working and was having a tough time trying to make ends meet and when i needed help she totally blew me off i was going through a seperation and I have a child. So i will think carefully next time before I ever go to that extreme again.

depends on lots of things. How good of a friend, are they close to you like brother sister type. I would say if they are a good friend then i would do the best i could to help as long as it wasnt something that could get you into trouble also(ex. lying to an officer- felony if your caught(called ubstruction of justice)) you do what you feel is right, thats all that matters, if they get mad b/c you wont do what they want you to do then they might not be as good of a friend as you may think... hope this is usefull.

If it was a true soul-mate, it would be easy to do anything (almost) Otherwise, it kinda depends.( There's something about this "mode" or train of thought in the air today. )

I would go to whatever lengths was needed. That would be for a real friend only!

I'll go all the way, any lenght (within the reasonable limits) for a true friend.

I've already told my friend I'd go into debt to help them out.
