we bought my car used and it only came with a key..not the little thing with the unlock, lock, panic button on it that you press outside the car (not sure the name). Is there any way I can buy one somewhere? How much would it be?

First off, you need to make sure that your car is equipped with a remote-entry system. If it's newer than 1997, then chances are that it does. You can find them at the dealership that carries the same cars as the one you drive.
It could run you anywhere from $20 to $500 depending on the year, make, and model of your car. Some newer cars have proximity sensors in them, so that all you have to do, is be near the car, and it will unlock, as long as you have the transmitter in your pocket or purse. If you don't have that, then you're lucky, because those run about $450, and that's considered cheap. If you have a mercedes benz, lexus, bmw, or infinity, figure on spending closer to $1,000.
To answer your second question, If you go to a dealership, and buy a new fob/remote, they're sitting on the shelf uncoded. They have to program it to match the frequency that your car is on. It's very similar to a regular key in the sense that when you pull a brand new key off the shelf, it won't open anything, until you "cut" it to the specific pins and locks that fit it. It's the same way with a remote fob.

Check with the dealership that sells the make of car you bought.
You can also have an independent company install the alarm/lock system on your car if it was not manufactured with one. Look in the Yellow Pages for car alarms.

I think you are referring to a "remote". Ask the people you bought the car from if it is wired for remote controlled door locks. If not, it costs about $300 to $400 to wire the car for automatic door locks.

It is a keyless entry thing. Sometimes, you can also punch in the number combination and it can open your windows, turn on the radio and accessory mode in the car, and pop the trunk. It is pretty cool

Call the dealer. (If it's a Nissan, call the Nissan dealer; if it's a Ford, call the Ford dealer...). They will be able to either get you one of those, or tell you where you can. Good luck!
