When Harry Met Sally....

i think it's pretty tough for me to choose my favorite of all time... there are so many. however, i do think that there is a difference between someone's favorite movie and the movie that they think is the best of all time.

for example, old school is one of my favorites, but i wouldn't compare it to something like the godfather as one of the best movies of all time because it's just not one of those movies.

however, sometimes one of a person's favorite movie can be the same one that a person considers to be the best of all time.

one of my favorites and the best movie of those that i have seen throughout my life is alfred hitchcock's vertigo. this movie absolutely blew me away the first time i saw it. jimmy stewart and kim novak give chilling performances, along with a great supporting cast that included barbara bel geddes. bernard herrmann's score is complete genius as well. the twists and turns of the plot are unlike anything i have ever seen. hitchcock's mastery is at its absolute best in this film. there's even a span of about 10 minutes in which no dialogue is spoken. however, it's not even noticed as so much is being told by the camera. i highly recommend it and have seen movies come close to its level, but none that have eclipsed it.

Lord of the Rings. It just has the energy and the passion that is needed to make a great movie, plus it has the added bonus of incredible special effect. The characters just speak to viewers and if you want to know more about Middle Earth, there are many books to read that will bring you back into the wonderful world of Tolkien.

Dead Poets Society

I like the story, the character and the pictures. It's a great movie, about young men spirits, their passion on poetry, their dreams, their rebellions against their parents, the school and the systems. About friendship and betrayal, about life and death. And how one person can change their life with a poem.

I wonder if I was in the same position what would I do.

Love Pulp Fiction. Nothing like it has been done before and nothing comes close to it now. The way all the stories were played out then intertwined together was brilliant. Every character was amazingly played.

The Lord of the Rings because that's me, that's who I am. I will always love that trilogy.

Movies like The Princess Bride and Pirates of the Caribbean because of their sheer ingenuity.
