Liberals seem to not be happy unless we are taken over by Muslim extremists. Libs go out of there way to cater to people that hate us; see Cindy Sheehan.

How can you be offended by being giving a choice of hearing the news from another angle? CNN, Fox News and other US stations are pushing the "US" view to the world and want to give the impression that their angle on the news is the objective truth when in fact these stations often distort the stories beyond recognition. Do yourself a favour and watch BBC, DW, Sky and other international broadcasting station and compare the quality. Al-Jazzera and several other Middle Eastern stations, such as MBC, report the news in a sober fashion and let the viewers decide for themselves. This is contrary to many US stations who operate under a (selfimposed) censorship of what is politically correct.

Not at all. Al-Jazzera is a not for profit news organization. America could use some of these. They work hard to report the news as they see it. They will show what they feel is important. From the best angle they deem fit. It may very well be a different angle then you are used to but isn't that a good thing? News isn't supposed to be pleasent. It's supposed to inform.
Let's consider the war in Iraq. How many interviews with Iraqi civilians have you seen in the news in the past year? What is exactly happening in that country as it effects the people? We all have our views of what is happening over there but how accurate are they??? Without different vantage points you will never know.

No, we live in a society of free speech. If they want to show us al jazzera, why not. Of course a lot of the stuff on there is not true, and blown up to their conceptions of america, but then again we do not really get an accurate depiction of what is going on there either. In my opinion, the more education and information out there, the better we all are, good or bad.

I'd like to tentatively pose a positive about this, Alex, although I've not totally thought it through...
If it is available in English, we can read it and see what it is about. Also, remember Al-Jazeera is pumped out of Qatar, where we have strong alliances. We are able to get some of our own info shown on Al-Jazeera, albeit with a Muslim slant...
Not exactly Radio Free Europe, but it may be all we have...
And if our idiot liberal Americans want to listen to it and form negative views about Americans and Jews, well then...

I am offended there is an Al-Jazzera, no matter what language they broadcast in. The media wing of AL Quaidda and Islamofascism should have been destroyed the first days of the our attack on Afghanistan.

No it does not offend me. I occasionally watch it online. I like watching news from all perspectives though. It is interesting to see the differences between the american media and that channel.
They are not trying to push the channel on anyone just offering alternatives, americans cry all the time that the media liberally biased after all, even though it is not.

Certainly it is offensive, but in truth, from a muslim perspective, it's a wise move. To many Americans are accustomed to getting their news from talking heads on TV, and feel that if it's on TV, it must be true. Their lives are "too busy" to search for the truth in a statement.

I think being America, we still have the freedom of speech, don't we. Why can't Al Jazeera broadcast here, no one is forcing you to watch it. Besides they do not ban CNN or Fox in their countries, in fact, Al Jazeera is modeled after CNN.

No one is forcing you to watch it. It's just giving an alternative news source to those who wish to see issues from another point of view.
