I buy what appeals to me - generally not "name brand items" because I just can't see spending a lot of money just for a label. If I really loved the "name brand item" because it was really attractive to me I'd buy it if I could afford it but only if I really liked it, not because of the label.

It depends on the item whether it's what I'm looking for and if it's going to serve its purpose. I don't buy brand name items just 'cause they're brand name. If a brand name item works for me, I like it, it's the right fit, color, style, whatever, then fine, I'll buy it. But the same goes for off brand items. If it's the right color, style, fit, whatever, then I'll buy it. I think it's silly to wear clothes with "Tommy" or "Tommy Hilfiger" right across the chest just because it's a Tommy Hilfiger or to buy a purse with a bunch of "C's" or "D&B" all over it when that's not even your initials. Whatever happened to individuality?

So, what is your question ? A lot of advertisements are done through the movies, this way the producer gets some money and the person who gives his advertisement gets a lot of publicity.

Sometimes it's called 'product placement', a 'plug' or a 'mention'.

Here's an article on the subject that might have more possibilities;
