Try Zicam, expensive, but does help. Or Cold MD also available at Wal-Mart. There is also Cold Eeze, never tried that though.

Witch's Brew, I know, strange name but after you taste it you will understand the name, anyway it works great at getting rid of a cold fast as long as you start taking it as soon as you feel the cold coming on. Ton's of vitamin C and the ginger root and cinnamon help soothe the throat as well as settle the stomach. Drink at least 2-4 mugs a day, you should start feeling better with in 24-48 hrs. , my husband says his taste buds are afraid of the brew that is why it works so fast lol.
here is the recipe
1 pink grapefruit
2 juice oranges
1 lemon
good size piece of fresh ginger root about 3 inches
1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
wash all the fruit well, cut into quarters, DO NOT peel the fruit, but do peel the ginger root and cut into chunks, put everything into a 4 qt dutch oven with at least 3 qts. of water add the cinnamon, bring to a boil then turn down to simmer for 30 minutes.Strain and drink it hot, you can add honey if you wish. Store any extra in the fridge for up to 3 days or in the freezer for 1 month.

Good luck - I am on day five with this rotten cold, and it is a kicker. Everything I have tried (and I do mean everything) does not help at all. Get you some chewable Vitamin C, mix up some whiskey, honey and lemon juice (1 part each), throw some extra blankets on the bed and climb in. The best thing you can do is sleep, drink lots of juice and ginger ale, and ride it out. While you can still walk, get a few good paperback novels to read during those brief moments of conciseness. Hope you feel better soon.

I take 1,000 mg of Vitamin C every day - the body secretes it daily so you need to replenish. There is a product out called EmergenCee or something like that but it's so expensive - I just use my vitamins. I buy the Nature's Made vitamins at Walgreens and they work very well for me. I might get a cold once every few years. I have tried Clairitin-D for symptoms and it works better for me than typical cold remedies bc it seems to reduce inflammatory responses.
Prevention is the best method, so keep keyboards clean, don't touch your hands to your nose or eyes and wash hands frequently. Hope you feel better soon.

Try getting some hydrogen peroxide. I remember back when I was young I would get ear infections. My mother would take a cotton ball and a bottle of hydrogen peroxide, and she would put the cotton ball at the opening of the container. She would get half of it soaked in the hydrogen peroxide and place the wet end in my hear, and then she would have me tilt my head so that the peroxide would drip into the ear. This always seemed to help. The peroxide should clear the ear out. He shoudl hear a fizzing sound. Also another great thing is a beeswax candle funnel made for drawing out wax and such from the ear. You place the wax funnel in the ear. You take a cheap disposable pie pan and poke a whole through it. This is to catch the ash. And you light it up. This causes a vacuum and draws crud out of the ear.

You can treat your symptoms but the cold has to work it's way out of your system unfortunately. Make ginger tea out of a fresh cut or grated ginger root found in your local supermarker produce isle. You will sweat out the cold faster. Also I am a firm believer in Vit C. to prevent colds. Take it daily, aleast 500mg

i absolutely swear by 1,000-2,000 mg vit c at the start, then 1,000 mg every four hours. as one other said, the cold has to work its way out, but this sure speeds up the process. have been doing this for years, works great for me..also, drink lots of water, that helps flush the cold out, and get lots of sleep so your body can heal itself. i buy the chewable vit c at walmarts..
good luck
