I am not sure. But, I think both are thoughtful.

I agree as well.
Though it's thoughtful in itself to write a letter period, to take the time to do so by hand not only shows that you care enough to set aside that personal time for your special someone but also allows the recipient to actually "feel" more than a computer font can give.
The nice thing about receiving something hand-written is that it allows us to take time to analyze the writing, the type of paper, ink colour, scents, tear stains etc. You get a real sense of the person, sometimes quite deeply.
It becomes a tangible memory that can be preserved in a memory box, scrap book, special drawer, and sometimes even carried next to the heart or kept under a pillow.
When you're far from the person you hold dear, sometimes that simple piece of paper makes the distance seem just a little less daunting.

Personally, I feel that It is more thoughtful than writing an e-mail. with an e-mail its kind of liek "Wham, bam, thank you ma'am." but with a letter you actually sit down and think about what your writing.

It had your unique handwriting that no one can copy...

It makes you actually take your time. you may be able to type 60+ words a minute but you cant write that fast. and so you take more time in doing this and therefore makes the gift of a wirtten letter all the more wonderful.

*smiles* I know that when I get a letter from my boyfriend it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Which is a bit odd...seeing as how we see each other online everyday and talk on the phone as well. but its just something about him sitting down, not really focusing on anything else( when you write an e-mail you can do 100 different things as well) and jsut writing me...just makes me feel good.

Could be yes. This Because while we take pen and paper we can take a longer time to think and write, write and refine our writing before sending to a person.

But you have to pay for the time sent in browsing centres. If your mailing from your own PC @ home, you have to pay for the phone bills and hence tend to complete our task fast leaving less time for thinking.

Mine is not a serious answer.

Absolutely. Pen and paper letters are like sending a part of yourself. The receiver can take said letter to bed to read or to a quite spot under a tree. You can hold it and carry it with you. One of the most important things, they can be saved. So much can be said.

Good question.

I used to say no, because letters take time and are inefficient compared to modern ways of sending things, but I can't deny the little thrill of pleasure I get whenever something comes for me in the mail. Letters may not be efficient, but people love knowing that you took the time out of your day to send them something. I'm even thinking of writing a letter to my sister who's visiting us now, so she'll have something to look forward to when she comes home.

Yes.

I know the first thing I do when I get home is check the mail. I like getting a real letter written on paper. I assume other people do too.

Certinly not. You think and write in the first case and think and type in the second case. I prefer a email for the simple reason that my handwriting is awfully bad. I can not also dismiss the view that a handwritten communication carries the personal touch and closeness. Machine does not have that ability, but the language tells it all to an intelligent receiver.

yes... have you ever carried your first love letter in your purse because it made you feel great? Try that with a computer!. You can't put your soul into a keyboard. Besides, even the worst handwriting holds special meaning for the person reading the letter. A dying art indeed.

Yes it is nicer and more formal. Some people may think it's a little old fashioned but i like it. I suppose it depends on who you are corresponding with. If it is some one the same age Email is cooler. If it for a job or someone you would like to impress then send a hand written note.
