The town I'm in now has about 300,000 people in it, the town I'm moving to has only about 7,000 people. I've never lived anywhere else but where I'm at now & in 2 days I'm moving to a new place. I just wondered if people will be much differant? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank You!!

People will need a little time to warm up to you. Don't worry though. If you have secrets keep 'em. Gossip travels at light speed in small towns. People will be generally conservative and laid back. Not in a hurry. I'm sure you'll love it.

I would say the very first thing to do is to keep your mouth shut and your ears open! Be friendly and listen to what folks are saying and not saying. In a small town more people know each other, so even if you think you have made some friends at first, still don't confide in them too much, especially about another person in the town. Gossip circulates fast!

It would be a good idea to join a local group of some kind..church, hobby group, recreation center, the library. ...Libraries have lists of all the community events and goings on. It will be different than a large city, but can be a very nice place to be. It's an opportunity for a fresh start, to be someone new if you choose, and to make some new friends.

Just take it really slow and go in with an open mind..it will be what you make it! Best wishes.

Move in slowly, at first it would be best to do more listening than talking, and don't believe everyone until you really get to Know what's going on. But don't be scared small towns can be a lot of fun and usually have a lot of other small towns around that can be a good place to hang out.

Yes, the people will be different. You will be going from a city to a smaill town. You will probably find things move at a little slower
pace and that the people will all seem to know one another.
Good luck to you with the move. Make the most of this new adventure and hopefully you will enjoy!

Yes it will be different. I lived in Chicago as a child then moved to a town of 8000. Now in college I moved to a town of 30000. Bigger towns are much better. In my town of 8000 there is no Arby's, Taco Bell, movie theater, mall, or any nice restuarants. Its sucks. But if you have a good imagination, anywhere could be fine. Good luck.

It can be different. Small towns can be friendly and people know each others business more. That may be uncomfortable if you are "different" or unfriendly or treasure your anonymity.

To fit in, join the community groups, church and be a part of the community. It becomes fun or miserable...your choice.

Don't they're horrible. Whatever anonymity you currently enjoy will disappear in a small town. everyone will know your business and you theirs. I found small town living to be extremely claustrophobic and I'm really glad to be back in a big city where nobody gives a s**t about my comings and goings.

get to know your neighbors and make sure you make a good first impression, in a town with 7,000 people, its important that no one hates you!
