Its about a girl who goes to the market and she finds a baby bird in the sand. She nurses it back to health and everything. Then when its Chritmas eve everyone is going to offer their gifts to the alter and she feels ashamed so she waits until midnight to bring her offering to the alter and she hears a voice that says if all she has to offer is the bird then she should offer up the bird. so she realeases the bird and it flies fully healed into the rafters and the bird begins to sing and its like no song she's ever heard and she realizes that it doesn't matter what you offer as long as it comes from the heart.

The original artist is a 12 year old Canadian girl named Aselin Debison. I heard the song for the 1st time last week on the radio and fell in love with the song. I finally found out myself who the original artist of the song is. Garth Brooks sings this song but I haven't heard his version of the song.
