To go from US to Mexico ? not much, visa
To cross back to US from Mexico ? Lots of certified, double stamped and authenticated papers plus your momma, fully certified and testifying that you are her American born child.
Or a passport.
Although the Canada to US crossing wanted passport & a second ID from us . . . maybe it depends on the day !

I would use a Passport to get back in now. They say a Driver License, and may work, but, they way many Border people are, I rather be well prepared than have to deal with a lot of Bull.

I know for sure American citizens don't need passports just yet. But that's about to change VERY soon. Big Jim says January 9th.

Into the US, or Into Mexico? If you're GOING to mexico, take a passport and keep it with you and leave a copy at home with someone. Birth certificate too, I guess.
