The Amsterdam Museum, The Anne frank Museum, Leidseplein, The Van Gogh Museum, Vondelpark, Westerkerk (Dutch Renaissance West Church) and Coster Diamonds which offer 30 minute guided tours and you get to see cutting, polishing sorting and setting of real diamonds, none of that cubic zirconia or diamonique crud off QVC!. To name a few. Oh and the red light district.

In addition to those already mentioned, I would also look at the Bejinhof, two hidden churches and a beautiful, peaceful place in the middle of the city, it is at the Spui, a tram stop, by esprit cafe, wooden doors on left lead into this courtyard. Once a haven for single women, it is still an enchanting area of Amsterdam and definately worth a 20-30 minute stop. It is near Kalverstraat, a major shopping area and so it is accessible easily and resturants are nearby.

definetly the anne frank museum. i also recommend taking the canalboat tours, as they are very informative and give a great history and perspective on this truly magnificent marvel of a city. i would recommend you keep the gang away from the red light district as more will be seen than you would likely want to see.
