Well, the poles (meaning the positions that they occupy on the compass) will remain. Antarctica is a continent, meaning that there is soil underneath the ice. Some 120 million years ago, it was warm enough for most of the year, to support life. There were dinosaurs there, as well as vast, lush forests.
The arctic circle, however, is mostly ocean. When the permanent ice is melted, then we are talking about open sea.
You are right in getting upset and asking questions. While I don't believe that all of life on earth will be jeopardized, certainly a good portion of it will be. Humans, because of their great capacity to adapt will probably survive, which is sort of unfortunate, since we are the ones who caused all the problems in the first place.
Many areas of the earth will become too hot to inhabit--at least for us humans. Vast areas will become new desserts, and we will have a difficult time growing enough food to supply all of humanity.
Since it is doubtful that we will evolve socially enough by that time (a mere 50 years from now at best), it is likely that advanced cultures will not extend the hand of humanitarian aid to poor nations enough to make room for them in cooler climates, or save their starving populations. Thus, the suffering of many will be grave.
I am old, and sick. It is a good thing, in this case, because I won't live to see the real horrors of this atrocity.
I believe you asked:
what are car and big industries going to do?
Too little, too late......
Namaste,

forget about ANTARCTICA, nobody lives there. V r going to go forever from this world if there is any more global warming. If Antarctica melts, the whole world is under water...... there is so much of ice on that continent. There would b no land...... water every where.... just WATER!

Don't worry about it. These stories are from a bunch of "chicken little" scientists trying to make a name for themselves. There isn't much we can do about it anyway if it were true. Don't panic and always carry a towel.
