This is the way that I do it on mine.....

Connect the S-Video out from the laptop to an RF Modulator. You won't need an RF Modulator if you have a TV that has an S-Video IN jack.

Right click somewhere on the desktop.
On the menu that pops up, click on properties.
On the window that opens, click the Settings tab at the top.
Click on the box with the 2 on it (that represents your second monitor, in this case your TV)
Click on the check box at the bottom that says "Extend My Windows Desktop Onto This Monitor" and make sure it's checked.

This will only take care of the video, not the audio.

For the audio, get one of those cables that will plug into the headphone jack of your laptop, and has two RCA jacks on the other end. Plug the RCAs into the RF modulator. If your TV has the S-Video IN jack mentioned above, then it probably has RCA IN jacks as well, and you will not need the RF-Modulator.

My TV is pretty old, and that's why I need to RF Modulator.

Oh, and if you have a regular RCA video IN jack on your TV, but not S-Video, you can get an adapter (for about $20 from Radio Shack).

If your laptop does not have an S-Video out on it..... I'm not sure what to tell you, but there should be some kind of video out jack on it.

I hope that that helps, and is not too much information to throw at you at once.

Good Luck!

Yes, if you have a S-Video output on the back of your laptop and an S-Video input on your television.

Keep in mind you will have to enable the option on your laptop, as it has to transmit at a different frequency for your TV to recognize the video.

Every laptop is different, but if you go to Start/Help and search TV Output.. it should tell you how to enable/disable the S-Video function.

newer flat screen lcd, plasma and dlp tv's have a jack to be used as a monitor, if you have one of these you just plug it in as you would a regular monitor
