I may be recording with a local group here who is looking for vocalists. I hope someone could tell me, I'm not signed to anything. This would be my first time recording and I'm not sure if I should charge or just do it for the experiance and to possibly get heard by who knows who to help me further along in the music biz. My first thought it to just go along with whatever the negotiation for the exposier, I need a second opinion.

you need to work out payment up front before you lay down a track. if someone is just checking you out as lead vocalist consider it an audition and do it gratis. whatever you decide be sure you get a copy of what you did so you've got some chops to show the next time you get a chance.
