You have to follow your heart, but also listen to your brain. If both are saying to move to try and become an actor then do it. Make sure you take everything into consideration. Before you move, find a job out there that you can rely on so that you are not just another "starving actor". Expect to be turned down a lot, and when you get offers, take anything you can get, even if it is the two minute bit of being a security gaurd that has to check if someone is on the guest list. Even if your family is laughing at you, I am sure they love you, and wont let you fall too hard if things dont work out.

Good luck.

I can't answer your ques.....but I can tell you....that you need to feel this in your gut. Acting is HARD WORK....if you are after the fame, pay, travel and meeting people....you really have to look inside yourself for what you want. If you are after the shallow aspects of it (I mean this in the least offending way), you won't succeed...to want the fame over the actual love of acting won't get you there. Real success happens to people who will do whatever their passion is, for free. Is this something you would do for free, and still feel satisfied.....without anyone ever aknowledging you, and without any exotic locales? I don't mean to offend, but that's where the real passion lies. What you would do for free...that one satisifying passion of yours...is what will make a great career. Acting is realistic in the sense that you get training....and have some idea of where you stand with talent....but it will NEVER be a secure profession. My advice to you is get training....a lot of places won't even look at you if you don't have training from a qualified institution or school. If acting is your passion, then go for it. Don't let anything get in your way, esp. failure. Because 9 out of 10 times, that will happen. Fail and embrace it. I wish you the best of luck. Oh and...the looks thing. Looks are important, and can make or break a role....but talent, drive...WANT, that will get you further. There are plenty actors who don't match the standards who are succeeding nowadays.

If you Feel it inside you that this is what you want and that this is what you see youself doing in the future then go for it!.. Just remember, the whole acting thing can be hard.. maybe not exactly the acting, but getting there.. but if this is what you want to do, then you'll be fine.. just don't give up :) And as for the looks thing I don't think there is much of a problem with that. There are a lot of famous and successful actor who are not exactly the best looking. Although I'm sure you're fine.
And one more thing.. Could I have your Autograph? (I'm not even joking) :) good luck!

How much acting have you done? Have you worked with all the local amateur theatre groups in your area? Have you worked with film students on their films for class? Have you taken every workshop and class available to you? Have you spent many many hours watching plays that you are not involved in?

I think it's somewhat telling that you seem to be interested in the REWARDS of a successful acting career - but not necessarily in the work part of acting. You only mention being famous and traveling and meeting people. You didn't once mention how acting made you feel - and how you feel when you're not doing it.

If I were you, I would examine my priorities. If it's simply posh vacations with interesting people, you can get that with a successful career in insurance - and with a much much larger chance of succeeding!

you dont have to move to LA to be an actor. you can stay in your state and audition for movies or take acting classes becos the better you are the better chance you have at getting a good role at auditions. i am in IL and i get pretty good roles in movies. i didnt have to move or anything. i just took drama in high school and i also worked at he community theater. you can do the same to or if you are out of high school, you can take acting classes ina community college near you.

lastly the decision is ultimately us but if you asked me, moving is not the solution. what is the garantee that you will get jobs in LA? you should think about all this before you make a decision

good luck and i hope you make the right decision. =)

Not all Hollywood actors are good looking but they have what it takes to succeed and become famous. If you think you got it in you, then by all means follow your heart. It doesn't matter what anybody says. You just have to keep saying to yourself that "failure is not an option." Good luck and all my best to you! See ya at the Oscars!

For God's sake, DON'T do it. In case you didn't know, Los Angeles is full of about 50 million people just like you; people whose goal in life is to "be famous." It has nothing to do with any real connection to the performing arts; it's just vanity.

We have enough of 'em. Stay put.

Actings great, if you think you have what it takes, then give up everything and move to L.A. but it's also a risky business if you have everything you want maybe you should go out for something new, but make sure you don't blow it ALL!!!! good luck!

Yes - it does! Propulsion, gravity, physics all play a factor in movement. It's glorious to be looking out at the world and see all the movement!

Find another job where you'll make enough money to spend on vacations.
