always make sure the drinks are replaced BEFORE they run out. that's the biggest thing for me. Don't sit down with the diners, that's kind of inappropriate. Once everyone is done with their food, then ask for dessert. Just keep an eye on the guests, if they need you be accessible. but the drink thing will either make or kill your tip. I typically go through four to six glasses at a sitting.

A server's minimum hourly salary is significantly decrease than different workers because the expectancy is that servers get rewarded from their suggestion. So a Walmart worker makes extra in line with hour in earnings than a server. also a lot of persons are unaware that eating places are also required to estimate a server's suggestion alongside with their paid earnings from the eating position and contain this quantity contained in the W-2 varieties despatched to the IRS and the server. So in the adventure that they somewhat are not getting a tip, they could finally end up paying taxes on money they did not even earn.

Good luck to you. I've waited tables before and it can be a tough job. Heads up..... people do not want a waitress from hell.

What I expect: civil greeting, clean silverware, my drink kept fresh, you don't flirt with my husband, food brought out before it's sat under the lights an hour
What I dislike: rudeness, can't bother to check on our drinks, call my husband "ma'am" (it's happened, in spite of his huge mustache, and the woman actually said, oh, I didn't look), slap the food down in front of me as if you're just tooooo busy to bother with me (I tip VERY well, and I don't look poor, I don't understand why I get that a lot)

i am a former waitress myself and the most important thing is to be as friendly as possible while still being humble. if something is bothering you DON'T let it show to your customers because you will get sh**** tips because customers hate that. i wish you the best of luck
