What is an otaku

2006-12-13 14:32:33 · answer #1 · answered by Anonymous · 0 1

Otaku is a Japanese pejorative term used to refer to a variety of geek[1], particularly one obsessed with anime and manga.

hmmm well I wish I could list and name all my dvd's and anime's I have seen. I don't collect figures or anything, just dvd's :)

so I would proudly say I was an Otaku! hehe

*currently not answering this question because she is reading manga or watching anime, or playing video games, please try again later

hm...I wouldn't really call myself an otaku since I haven't cosplay yet in rl and I want...I just need the cash for a black Naruto headband to be Neji after the time jump.

I do regularly go to the library or to Borders and read manga there for about 2 hours per day, I read internet manga every week, and watch mostly subbed animes on youtube and read my naruto manga chapter every afternoon on Thursday or Friday morning. ^.^ I even sneak it from the comps in my school's campus. I collect anime/manga icons and have over 200 of them in my photobucket and regularly rp online. I "borrow" my sis's Shonen Jump issues that she buys and regularly draw my own fan pics. I know what doujins and hentai are and sometimes I find yaois arousing if you know what I mean ;D
yaoi, yuri, seme, uke, doujin, pairings...god I'm a perv

*Looks around room* DVDs, check, VHSs, check, multiple Manga series, check, figures, check, trading cards, check, Posters, check, Attened Anime Expo, check, Staffed a Con, check....

Yep, Looks like I qualify.... I am an Otaku....

I love my Anime, both the released in America DVDs and VHS, and the ones I watch *cough*fansubbed*cough*.
My manga collection has grown in tandem with some of my Anime series....
The trading cards and other stuff just sort of happened from there...
Then the Staffing came because I wanted to meet some of my favorite voice actors... and the subsequent years, because I want to give back to the Anime Community....

No.

XD

However, I do like anime and mangas, A LOT. I can't call myself an otaku because I don't own / watch / read many of the latest manga and anime.

So... no.
