Yes, you can play the 360 on an SDTV, but I wouldn't recommend it. You are paying for the high definition, graphics and high res games. Playing the 360 on an SDTV is such an overkill. You will have black bars because all games are in widescreen and text/graphics will be grainy.

In my opinion, buy an HDTV first.

It can be played on a regular tv using the composite cables, which is the red, white and yellow ones. If you have those, then you don't need to play it on an HDTV.

no, but some games have text that's hard to read on a regular Tv (For example, Dead Rising)
