Limewire, in and of itself, is not illegal. What IS illegal is using it to download copyrighted materiel without the consent of the copyright owner.

Using it to download things that are not copyrighted is perfectly legal.

For example: If I were to share a song I made over Limewire, and I had not copyrighted it, it would be perfectly legal for someone to download it. However, if I were to put a copyrighted song on limewire, it would be illegal for you to download it (and illegal for me to share it with you.)

Limewire in itself is not illegal but if someone downloads files from it and uses them for things that is the illegal part. Limewire has covered itself with regards to liability because of the question asked before the install.

limewire isnt illegal its what u download on it......

No. when each person downloads it, they click "agree" which binds them to a contract that says "I will share my files". anyone who uses it has downloaded it and legally is sharing music.

No. It is all about people SHARING music and video files with other people! What is so illegal about SHARING with your peers?
