We talk on skype and now all of a sudden, the call quality is messed up,like when she plugs in the mic part of the headset, she sounds really distant and the volume of her voice is low and i hear alot background static loudly but her voice is far away sounding. Any Ideas on how to fix this problem?? The head set fairly new.

it doesn't sound as a PC problem, is more like skype, maybe is due by the flow at the particular time you talk or is because skype sucks, plane and simple.. anyway if she`s not having any problems outside skype her PC is OK, but she could run a spy sweeper just to be sure, some times a PC gets overloaded by spy ware that start to run slow.... or maybe get a new headset ??

You might try to uninstall and reinstall your sound driver. You want to right click on the my computer Icon. Then click on properties. The click on hardware ( XP) Device manager (windows 9x). Look for sound, video, and game controlling. You want to click the plus sign next to it. Then right click and chose remove to every item under that catagory. Once it completely disapears from the menu then you want to close out of everything that is open and then you want to restart your computer. When it starts back up the hardware will reinstall. Try it then. If this doesnt work then if you have windows xp. THen you could try running back system restore. Start -> all programs -> accesories -> System tools -> System restore... Chose my computer to an earliar date and time, hit next. Then on the calender chose a date that it was working correctly. YOu can go back a few months by choosing the left arrow next to the current month.

That can happen if your sound card needs to be reseated, or the plug isn't securely in the jack.
