Try setting a routine such as take a warm bath, go to bed at or about the same time every night, read if it makes you sleepy or listen to a book on tape or get a sound machine and play the sound that soothes you.
Eat a banana and drink a glass of milk an hour before bed time. The combo of the two will help you stay asleep.
Good luck!

don't have caffeine after lunch.
don't read or whatever in bed, or hopefully in bedroom at all. reserve your bed for sleeping.
get earplugs.
go to bed and get out of bed at the same time every day, no matter what.
if you are having a total inability to sleep for 30-45 minutes, get up
and do something for 15 minutes, try to sleep again
exercise during the day to wear yourself out. do not do any exercise for the last two hours before your bedtime.
when trying to fall asleep, pick a random 4 digit number (2716, 5826, 7245, etc) and start counting backwards. it clears your mind, but isn't difficult enough to keep you awake.
make sure you are not cold or hungry. if you have trouble sleeping, try having a snack and getting an extra blanket. it may help.
do not look at a clock after you lay down to go to bed, until you get up in the morning. you can freak yourself out, thinking, OMG, it is so late, I have to be up in 3 hours or whatever. that makes it harder to sleep.
try a yoga relaxation tape. not the workout part, just the meditation part, right before bed. one good pose is to lie with your feet up the wall, facing the ceiling and your back on the floor with your butt at the juncture of the floor and the wall. you can do this for up to a half an hour, right before bed, to relax you.
at the very least, allow yourself some time to wind down, at least a half hour, before going to bed - do not do work or chores or anything stressful. read a book, watch tv, whatever works for you.
also drink warm milk - does not do as much good if it is not warm. If you do not like the taste, try a decaf latte or a low-sugar hot chocolate

Insomnia (sleeplessness) is due to stress, dietary and medical
problems. By making small lifestyle changes like having a fixed
daily routine, relaxing and eating properly, insomnia can be
cured. I found the information at http://tinyurl.com/jfzpz useful
for getting sleep.

I had problems sleeping, even grew a tolerance to over the counter sleep meds. But I found two things that work for me. One, I drink a "sleepy tea" which has no caffiene and has valerian root, which helps with sleep. Also, I found this supplement that works well, its called SleepMD, you find it in the vitamin section of walgreens or riteaid. These are the only things that Ive gotten to work so far.

There are lots of ways to fall asleep. Try not to watch TV before you go to sleep especially the news....it can make you anxious.
Try chamomile tea without sugar. A hot bath....Read a book. You
could exercise for a hour or two (cardio) Meditation is good too.
If those don't work...go to your doctor and he/she can prescribe you sedative to take at night to help you sleep.
Cheers,
Peaches

I agree appropriate to the melatonin. It is available in tabs as much as 3mg, and each so often it incredibly is placed under the tongue to dissolve. Take is one a million/2 hour beofre mattress. This substance is organic and places your physique in synch with the mild/darkish cycles outdoors; so whilst it incredibly is darkish, you sense sleepy. heat milk could be efficient. Get any concerns or stressors out of your understanding. a good thank you to try this's to jot down out your stressors and burn it. Or if the issues are greater like "all I would desire to do day after today" then make a catalogue so as which you will relax, understanding which you do no longer would desire to attempt to bear in suggestions all of it! enable adequate time to get a good evening's sleep. do no longer workout too late contained in the day, yet DO workout daily, optimal previously 6pm, as which will wake the physique as much as boot. ultimate of luck, g'evening!
