1. Internet won't connect after computer is idle for 20 or so minutes. Is it the settings I have it on? How do I fix it?
2. Little teeney icons for programs opening up beside the clock as soon as I turn on computer and log in. How do I make these programs stop automatically opening? They waste my time.

Take things out of the startup folder..
or.. if you're experienced..
go to start -> run -> msconfig -> and uncheck startup things.
you can change your intenret disocnnection if you go to dialup networking. Im not exactly sure EXACTLY where it was though
